A Grandstream ATA can be configured to work with our Hosted BPX by using the device's web interface or automated provisioning to register the analog telephone adapter to the SIP server. This allows analog devices, such as fax machines (with best efforts) or old phones, to connect to the Hosted PBX/SIP-based phone system, with our system handling call routing and features. The process involves getting the ATA's IP address, logging in, and entering the correct SIP account credentials and server information.

Step 1: Connect and find the ATA's IP address
  • Connect the Grandstream ATA to your network with an Ethernet cable and power it on.
  • Locate the ATA's IP address by using a network scanning tool or by connecting a laptop to the same network and running the arp-a command in the Command Prompt.
Step 2: Log in to the ATA's web interface
  • Open a web browser and enter the ATA's IP address.
  • Log in using the default username and password (often admin and admin).
Step 3: Configure the SIP settings
  • Navigate to the SIP account settings within the web interface. This is typically found in a section labelled "SIP Settings" or similar.
  • Enter the account details, including:
    • SIP Server:yourpbx.yourdomain.com
    • SIP User ID: The extension number for the device
    • Authentication ID: The username for the account.
    • Password: The password for the account.
Step 4: Save and test
  • Save the changes you've made to the ATA's configuration.
  • The ATA should now register with the server. You can verify this status within the ATA's web interface.
  • Connect an analog phone or fax machine to the ATA and test making and receiving calls to ensure it is working correctly.

You may need to configure additional settings for features like T.38 faxing if you are using a fax machine. The T.38 is not listed as a supported device for fax; therefore, please note that support for the T.38 and Fax over ATA protocol is billable.

If you are looking to provision this as best efforts, we recommend these P-code settings for faxing on the HT801/HT802 on FXS1:

P228= "0"
P91= "1"
P247= "0"
P249= "0"
P850= "100"
P4825= "1"
P4416= "1"
P824= "1"
P4441= "1"
P57= "0"
P132= "2"
