UC Analog On-site Tool List

Prerequisites

UC Analog is an add-on service. 

 

Site Requirements

  • Mount the UC Anlog endpoint at the official demarcation point or MPOE (Minimum Point of Entry)
  • Install within 5 feet of a working 110 VAC outlet (NEMA 5-15 / 3-prong grounded) for each CPE unit
  • Install in an interior space, regardless of end-device location
  • Wall penetration (exterior or dividing) may be required if existing inside wiring is inaccessible

Supported End Devices (not limited to)

  • Fire panels and elevator call boxes
  • Gate, door, and garage entry systems
  • Emergency call boxes and blue light phones
  • Analog fax machines
  • Analog key/KSU telephone systems and handsets

Field Technician Responsibilities

  • Discover and re-terminate existing inside twisted pair wiring to end devices
  • Install standard telephone jacks and/or customer-provided callbox or phone enclosures as needed
  • Run or extend inside wiring up to 25 feet between each CPE analog FXS port and the end device, or to an existing inside wire termination point (66/110 punch down, RJ11/12/31X/45, etc.)
  • Run up to 25 feet of Ethernet cable to the customer's data switch or router for WAN interface connection where required (e.g., analog fax in certain jurisdictions)

Helpful Job Tools 

  • Smartphone with a good quality camera and charger (Don't forget the charger cord and extra battery packs!)
  • Phillips and straight slot type screwdriver(s) 
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Digital multimeter with DC and AC measurement options 
  • 3/8" u-style staple gun w/ staples 
  • Label maker w/ black text on white label tape (Don't forget spare batteries!) 
  • Sharpie permanent marker pens 
  • Small bubble level 
  • Laptop computer with wired Ethernet port, serial to USB console, Putty or CRT terminal service software 
  • Impact drill/driver (medium hammer drill) w/ assortment of masonry bits including 5/16" & 3/8" diameters. 
  • Extended length masonry bits up to 3/8" for thick wall or cinder block penetration. 
  • Fish tape (not typically needed, but 50' is always a good idea to have in hand) 
  • Extra 9v batteries for various test tools, Step ladder (minimum 6') 
  • TR-600 Analog Recorder
  • Electrical tape (black) 
  • Silicon sealer (tube, clear) to seal any exterior wall penetrations
Impact tool w/ 66 and 110 blades (terminate and cut blade ends)
Tone generator and receiving probe kit
Telephone test set (Butt set) with tip/ring alligator clips and onboard RJ-11 interface
RJ11 & RJ45 crimp tools

 

Electrician scissors and/or cat 5e wire strippers
6 position, 6 conductor Modular Telephone “Banjo” Adapter
100 feet plus of Cat 5e cable (4 pair, EZ pull box)
RJ-11/12 plug modules (6 position 2, 4 or 6 conductors, each UC Analog FXS interface requires one)
RJ-45 cat 5e plug modules (8 position 8 conductors, required when wireline internet is an option and need to make a cable)
Scotch locks (for splicing and extending insulated twisted pair telco wire (22-24 AWG))
1" to 1 1/4" long drywall screws
Assorted length and size cable ties for cable management and securing wires and cords
Cat 5e patch cables (assorted lengths)
